New app lets WCPSS track child's bus
Wake County Schools is making it easier for parents to track their child's bus and know they are safe.

WAKE COUNTY (WTVD) -- Wake County Schools is making it easier for parents to track their child's bus and know they are safe.

The school district launched a free school bus tracking app Tuesday called "Here Comes the Bus."

The app lets parents see real-time information on the exact location of their child's school bus with a customizable map on a smart phone, tablet, or personal computer. It also notifies parents when the bus is near their stop or if there has been a schedule change.

"We have a 20-minute delay sometimes depending on the day or the weather, so it's a huge help for me to be home and making sure he's safe," said Carpenter Elementary parent Jeremy Cleveland.

"Here Comes the Bus" is currently only available to year-round and modified track students, but it will soon be ready for all traditional schools.

Traditional calendar families will get access to the app about three weeks after the start of school for their calendar.
