Alamance County steps up patrols around Graham Confederate memorial

In the aftermath of the toppling of the Silent Sam Confederate statue in Chapel Hill, Alamance County officials said they are keeping a close eye on a statue of their own.

There were extra patrols Tuesday around the Confederate monument outside the historic Alamance County courthouse in Graham.

The statue has been there since 1914.

In 2017, a man was charged with inciting a riot" after protesting at the statue.

The county manager said public safety is the biggest concern.
