  • Jeffery Topping from Toledo wrote: Yeah, I felt the earthquake too. I happened to be up, and sitting here taking care of some online bills, when the 4-unit apt. bldg. that I live in just sort of shook for about 5 sec. or so, and my 3 cats just freaked. My first reaction was to go to the kitchen in the back of my apt., where the windows face in the general direction of the Sun Oil refinery (at night, when they do waste burn-off, you can clearly see the glow)--I thought maybe there had been an explosion there. Thanks for clearing the matter up--this was certainly a new one on me!!!
  • Liz Langham wrote: I live in Bowling Green and did not feel the earthquake but my daughter who lives in Paducah Ky. Called me shortly after it hit and told me about it and said that the duplex which she and her husband live upstairs in shook so hard that she thought that it was going to collapse they are in a diagonal directions the opposite way of us and really not that far from were the earthquake hit. So it has went along ways all directions.
  • Bob wrote: I felt the quake this morning while in bed, the bed was shaking a little and the bedroom door started shaking. My daughter thought she was dreaming her bed was shaking till i told her it was an earth quake.
  • Dave Morey wrote: I felt my bed shaking this morning around 5:40am, and didn't think anything of it until later today when I heard that there was an earthquake nearby. It wasn't anything dramatic...just a slight, steady shaking. Also, later this morning, this duck landed in my front yard. I wouldn't think anything of it, except for the weird coloring. Figured I'd pass it on to you guys to see if it's anything special/weird.
  • Chris from Bryan wrote: I woke up at 5:40 this morning. I didn't feel anything, though perhaps my waterbed muffled any sensation on that score. I did hear what sounded like someone moving things right outside my window. I got up when the sound stopped and looked out to see if I could see anyone, but there was nothing to see. When I turned on the TV, as there was no way I was going back to sleep, I found out about the earthquake and realized it was probably the window itself shaking that I'd heard.
  • Pam from Sylvania, OH wrote: I awoke at 5:40 a.m. to my bedroom moving. My bed was shaking. Then I heard a huge rumble outside. I knew it was an earthquake, because I had experienced one here in Ohio a number of years ago, and had felt my bed shake then also. My 15 year old daughter slept through it. I told her about it as she arose for school at 6:15. She thought I was dreaming, and laughed at me. I told her to tell her Science teacher about it; I knew I was not mistake.
  • Joy wrote: I'm not sure if I felt it, but I think I did. At 5:40 am this morning I felt my bed shaking. I would've thought that it was my imagination, but the ceiling fan had also started to make a strange rattling sound like it was off balance. Once the shaking stopped I turned the fan off and then back on and it was fine. I asked my husband if he felt that, but he said no. He was up and moving around though so he probably didn't notice it. I don't think I would have noticed if I hadn't already been laying there awake; it was very slight.
  • Becky from Fremont wrote: Several girls I work with in Fremont felt the earthquake. It woke me up. I hear a tapping in my room and my bed moved a little - it was over in a few minutes.
  • Becky wrote: I'm a native of Stryker, Ohio living in a high-rise apartment in Chicago and I felt the earthquake at approximately 4:40AM Chicago time. I thought I was dreaming when it happened. It felt like someone was shaking me. The building live in didn't receive any damage.
  • Pauline Iler wrote: I am from Findlay , OH. I thought if interesting that my parrot also fell off his perch at 5:30 . It took him several minutes to calm down. I felt nothing , but apparently birds must be able to sense the earthquake.
  • Kristy Short wrote: I was woken up out of a sound sleep to my bed shaking. I looked at the clock it was 5:40am. I thought to myself why my husband is doing laundry at 5:40 this morning. It felt like the spin cycle on our washer. Come to find out there was an earthquake! I was also surprised that my newborn daughter was still sleeping. She usually gets up between 3 and 4 in the morning. I was happy to get 2 extra hours of sleep.
  • I heard Jay state this morning that people reported their pet birds being knock off their perches in their sleep! Well I got up and found my pet Cockatiel dead in the corner and it looked like her neck was broken. She was 14 years old and perfectly fine last night. It helps knowing maybe that is what happened when nothing else makes sense!
  • Misty wrote: Hello, I live in Bryan, and we felt the earthquake. My husband had just gotten up for work and I was still lying in bed. All of a sudden everything started shaking, my bed was shaking and at first I thought one of our pets had gotten under the bed and was messing around. Our windows rattled and everything on our bathroom book case shook and clanked. My grandmother lives with us and she felt her bed shake and all her knick knacks were rattling. She used to live in Okinawa when her husband was in the military, and she was the first to realize that it was a earthquake, we immediately turned on the news, and about 10-15 minutes later the story was announced. I am surprised we felt it so much when it was so far away!
  • Liz Shawl from Adrian, MI wrote: I felt the earthquake this morning. I thought that my husband was moving furniture in the living room and he had already left for work. It shook my bedroom for a short time. It is interesting that I could feel it so far away.
  • Tamara Rohde from Ottawa Hills wrote: Hey, you were the first station to report the earthquake this morning. I felt it as I was laying in bed watching the news. My 16 yr.old daughter woke up and ran into my bedroom in a panic. I explained that it was an earthquake, as I'd experienced one back in the 80's while living in Michigan. It was a little upsetting to me that none of the stations mentioned anything until several minutes later. I knew most of you felt that so was amazed at how you continued on with your newscasts, never missing a beat.
  • Kelly Mercer from Edon, Ohio wrote: Regarding the earthquake this am, I live 7 miles west of Bryan, Ohio. This am approx. 5:40, I felt the shaking of the earthquake, enough that the water in my coffee cup had ripples in it and my chair shook a little.
  • Hi my name is Joy I'm 17 and I live in upper Sandusky. Is it possible that I felt the earthquake this morning? I think it woke me up at about 5:40.
  • Kathy Iler wrote: I live in Bryan Ohio, one hour away from Toledo, right across the street from Ohio-Art. The after-shocks from the quake shook everything around. I felt it through-out the house. Even my Heidelberg German-shepherd was wondering what was going on. What a way to start your day, rock'n and roll'n.
  • Claudia from Toledo wrote: Just a note of interest regarding the earthquake this morning, I awoke to hear my four parrots thrashing their cages. I looked at the clock and was surprised later to hear on your news report that we had an earthquake at that time. I guess it goes to show how sensitive our pets can be to what's going on.
