An investigator with the Lucas County Coroner's office tells us Terry Gibson is the driver who died in that crash.
Investigators say Gibson died at the track. He was driving his super modified race car in a qualifying round in a heat race when he and another car collided on a turn. Several other cars were involved in the tangle.
Despite the fatal crash, the rest of the night's racing went on as planned.
Here is some additional information about the cars in last night's race, which was the first and only appearance of Super-Modified cars at Toledo Speedway. These cars are known as the world's fastest short-track cars. The track at the speedway is a half-mile long and these cars can get around it in about 13-seconds. Super-Modified cars are low to the ground with the big wings. They're sometimes reaching speeds of more than 120-miles per hour.
