Man charged in sister's stabbing death

PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) - A 19-year-old who authorities say was on leave from Army basic training has been charged in the stabbing death of his 17-year-old sister, who was killed at a trailer park.

Steven Kelsey was arraigned Saturday in Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac on first-degree and felony murder counts in the death of Jesika Kelsey, who was found slain in her Highland Township home on New Year's Day.

He stood mute to the charges and was held without bond. A preliminary hearing is Jan. 7 in Novi. A message seeking information on whether he was represented by a lawyer was left with the sheriff's department.

If convicted, he faces life in prison without parole.

Police say the stabbing took place at Highland Greens Mobile Home Park, about 30 miles northwest of Detroit.
