REVIEW: 'The Haunting in Connecticut'

Rated: PG-13 for some intense sequences of terror and disturbing images.

A True story of a family forced to relocate near the clinic where their son is being treated for cancer. The family discovers the house they have decided to rent is a former mortuary with a very dark history.

The fact that this movie is based on a true story makes a lot of things I didn't like about it tolerable.

However, it is supposed to be a thriller and although there were a few shocking moments there wasn't anything that was outright scary.

It has been a long while since a good horror movie has come out; this movie didn't change that at all.

It seems that the current trend in Hollywood is that as long as you have enough "jump" moments, it's a good horror film.

But I'm a guy who thinks that having someone pop out of a closet or suddenly appear where I wasn't expecting isn't "scary".

Scary is not being able to go outside for fear of something you see in the movie theatre might be waiting for you.

A rental at best.

2 buckets.
