Fuquay-Varina coach pleads guilty to sexual offense

RALEIGH Mardy Cutchin was the Fuquay Varina High School women's basketball coach accused of sexual misconduct with one of his players.

Wake County Public Schools suspended him with pay when the allegations became public.

Cutchin was originally charged with sex with a student, but on Monday he pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery.

He was sentenced to 60 days for each count, which was suspended in lieu of 60 months of supervised probation.

Cutchin was ordered to register as a sex offender and to have no contact with the victim or victim's family. He also cannot have contact with minors under 16 without adult supervision.
