Last June, Tyson the dog was stolen from his owner's backyard, shot twice, and left for dead. Soon after, Skowron and King were charged with multiple animal cruelty charges, as well as trespassing and petty theft.
Surveillance video from a neighbor's house caught the theft. Also, Skowron called 9-1-1 and admitted to shooting Tyson that same day. Skowron claimed Tyson was attacking his dog.
The judge today sentenced King to 30 days of probation, including electronic monitoring. Skowron got 30 days in jail, followed by 30 days of probation, including electronic monitoring.
Skowron's attorney Don Cameron said, "I think the sentence was a fair sentence, considering the circumstances. There's a lot of emotional impact here. I just hope we can heal up and go on their ways."
Tyson's owner Josh Luck said, "I'm glad that we're finally resolved in the criminal aspect of it, the family can heal and keep Tyson our number one priority."
Tyson survived, but the family faces a mountain of bills from the veternarian's office. Tyson's owner says he next plans to take legal action to recover money for vet bills.
