Police search for men charged with murder

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.

Police said a fight broke out Thursday Aug. 23 just before 2 p.m. between several people on School Street. At some point during the fight, 36-year-old Marcus Atherton fled on foot, then collapsed a short distance later.

Atherton later died as a result of blows he received during the fight.

Detectives are now searching for 22-year-old Dwight Dewey Bristol Jr. and 41-year-old Tony Carl McGill. Both men are charged with first degree murder.

The investigation into the murder of Atherton is ongoing and police anticipate additional arrests of suspects in connection with the murder.
