Police arrested 33-year-old James Matthews Wednesday after receiving several tips.
The phone was taken from a person at a Family Dollar store, but the man who allegedly took it apparently wasn't aware it was set up to automatically upload photos from its internal camera to a photo sharing website.
The phone's owner saw new photos from the phone uploading and alerted investigators. Three photos clearly show the suspect.
The phone is a Samsung Gravity Smart and is valued at around $200.
Matthews has been charged with larceny and possession of stolen goods. He has been released from the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $2,000 unsecured bond. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance June 26.
