Crawleigh work moves forward this weekend

RALEIGH

On Friday evening, crews started closing the left lane on the inner beltline near the Interstate 40/440 split in southeast Raleigh.

The lanes should reopen no later than 5 a.m. Monday.

The inside lane of the outer beltline is already closed between the split and the U.S. Highway 64/264 interchange.

Eventually, the DOT will shift drivers to the outside lanes and shoulder for several months while crews rebuild the inside lanes of the highway.

This is only phase one of the Crawleigh construction project. The DOT is rebuilding an 11.5 mile stretch of highway because the road is crumbling.
