HOPE MILLS, N.C. (WTVD) -- Authorities called the family of a local missing teen into a lengthy meeting Tuesday, but they still have not identified a body believed to be the girl.
Late Tuesday morning, Hope Mills police met with Danielle Locklear's mother and immediate family to update them on the latest in the investigation. The 15 year old went missing on March 11 but a body, suspected to be Locklear and recovered from an area river, still has not been positively identified by authorities.
That body has been confirmed to be a young female, and was discovered by an off-duty deputy on April 2.
Days later, investigators executed search warrants on two homes, gathering evidence and conducting several interviews. One home was off Highway 210 in Autryville, a short distance from where the body was discovered. The other home was off Deep Creek Road in Fayetteville.
Last week family members told ABC11 they were concerned about the location of the body because it is familiar to Locklear. Her maternal family is native to Autryville.
Authorities later told the family they were 90 percent sure, the body was that of the missing teen.
Four weeks into Locklear's disappearance, billboards and town signs relay messages to "help find Danielle." Following the search of those two homes, the teen's official "Find Danielle Locklear" Facebook page, with messages authorized by her family, encouraged the public to speak up about what they may know regarding the investigation.
