Crews pull body of missing boy from pond, officials say
IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. -- Crews pulled the body of a missing boy from a pond in Iredell County at about 10:45 p.m. Monday, officials said.
Authorities, including a dive team, responded to a report of a missing child near a body of water in Iredell County earlier in the day.
The Iredell County Sheriff's Department requested Mount Mourne Volunteer Fire Department to assist with a missing 4-year-old child.
Crews were on the scene searching the Craftsman Loop area of Iredell County.
A detailed land search, door-to-door search and searches of a pond on scene were underway well into Monday night.
A reverse 911 call was made to a 2-mile radius of the area.
The Charlotte Fire Department Dive Team searched the pond with underwater sonar.
One firefighter was transported to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries suffered on scene.
