Deputy-involved fatal shooting in Edgecombe County

EDGECOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Investigators say a sheriff's deputy shot and killed a man who charged at him with a weapon.

It happened just after 4 p.m. near Crisp.

The sheriff's office said the deputy responded to an argument between a man and a woman, then the man charged at the deputy with a weapon and would not listen to the officer's commands.

The deputy opened fire, killing the man.

Agents with the State Bureau of Investigation have taken over the investigation.
