Truck crashes into pole, knocking out power in Durham

DURHAM (WTVD) -- An early morning accident knocked out power for hours in Durham Wednesday.

Around 1 a.m., a work truck crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Cameron Boulevard and Duke University Road, near Duke University's campus.

The crash took down power lines and traffic lights in the area, causing the roadway to be blocked for several hours as crews worked to repair the damage.

The impact of the collision caused the truck to overturn and spill the load it was carrying.

It is unclear what caused the driver to crash.

The incident is currently under investigation.
