Fire destroys duplex in Durham

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Intense flames ripped through a North Durham duplex on Sunday afternoon, leaving half a dozen people without a home.

Fire officials told ABC11 the flames started in the kitchen before spreading to the attic. The fire broke out around 2 p.,. on Sidebrook Court, off Stadium Drive near Horton Road.

One firefighter had to be taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The second floor and roof are completely destroyed. Investigators are working to figure out the official cause.
