Durham Public Schools name Teacher of the Year

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Durham Public School's have named its Teacher of the Year.

Brandon Daniel, a fifth-grade teacher at Burton Magnet Elementary School took home the honors.

The banquet took place on Wednesday night at the Washington Duke Inn.

The Teacher of the Year candidates are nominated by their peers early in the year.

There were five finalists for the top honor.
