Man accused of breaking into Fayetteville church, twice
FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A Lumberton man is in custody, accused of breaking into a Fayetteville church twice in the span of just a few days.
The first break-in happened Feb. 17 sometime during the early morning hours at Colonial Baptist Church at 8066 Stoney Point Road.
The investigation showed that someone broke through a rear window and removed items from the church.
The second break-in occurred Feb. 20 or 21, again during the night and in a similar manner. Again, a rear window was broken and items were stolen from the church.
Police said forensic examination of the evidence led them to Lannie Dell Locklear, 46, of the 5300 block of West McDuffie Crossing Road in Lumberton.
Locklear was charged with two counts of breaking and entering a place of worship and two counts of possession of stolen property. He was arrested in Robeson County by the Robeson County Sheriff's Office and processed at the Robeson County Detention Center pending transportation back to Cumberland County.
Locklear's bond was set at $50,000 secured.
