Woman killed in Fayetteville fire

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Authorities in Fayetteville are investigating a woman's death after firefighters found her body while extinguishing a fire early Wednesday morning.

It happened about 4:30 a.m. in the 3500 block of Gazella Drive in the Long Pine Mobile Park, near Pamalee Drive.

Officials said fire crews found the woman's body as they worked to put out flames inside the kitchen of the single-wide mobile home.

The victim was identified as Audrey Purnell, 36. The preliminary investigation gas revealed no signs of foul play.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
