FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Fayetteville police say the man who fired shots into a home that missed a sleeping baby by inches has surrendered himself to law enforcement.

Officials said the shooting happened on Thursday around 8:45 a.m. Officers said the suspect, 30-year-old Trellis Buie, went to the home on 1615 Morehead Avenue specifically to cause a disturbance.

ABC11 was invited inside the home and spoke with the child's mother. She didn't want to share her name.

"It scared me," said Mom. "I got kids and any one of my kids could have gotten injured."

The mom said Buie showed up at her house and pulled a gun on her. She says he fired a number of shots, and one of the bullets sliced through the siding and whizzed by her baby, who was sleeping in a swing.

"It was just shocking because I didn't think that would happen," she said.

Officers said Buie then ran to his 2008 Mazda CX-9 and sped away from the home.

Mom tells ABC11 she knows Buie through a family member.

"He said he was going to turn himself in, but on the charges that he has been charged with, I doubt that he's just going to go in willing," she said.

Police said Buie surrendered himself on Saturday evening. He is now being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center where he remains on a $150,000 secured bond.
