WILSON, N.C. (WTVD) -- For the second time in two weeks, fire breaks out at a Wilson tire plant.

The 8-alarm fire at the Bridgestone-Firestone plant broke out at 6:30 Saturday evening.

The plant is on Firestone Parkway.

The Wilson County Sheriff's Office says one person was injured and transported to the hospital.

The fire broke out in the plant's mixing area - that's the same section of the plant that caught fire last week.

Wilson firefighters extinguished the blaze and spent much of the evening spraying down hot spots.

They're still working to determine a cause.

The Bridgestone company issued a statement about the fire:

"On July 5, at approximately 6:15 p.m. EDT, a fire was discovered in the duct work of the mixing department of the Bridgestone Americas Wilson, N.C. tire manufacturing plant. There were no injuries related to the fire or procedures followed for its extinction.

The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes. The Bridgestone internal fire brigade was the first to respond and utilized fire suppression techniques until relieved by members of local fire departments.

Damage appears to be isolated to the ventilation ducts. Plant management is now working with the Wilson fire department and related authorities to determine the cause of the fire."
