Raleigh man arrested in fatal hit-and-run

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Raleigh man was arrested by Wilmington police and charged in a fatal hit-and-run.

Police arrested 20-year-old Andrew John Washick Monday after he fled the scene of the crash on Friday night.

Authorities say the crash happened just after 9 p.m. near South College Road and Cedar Avenue. Washick hit 44-year-old Caroline Ashley Weis and left the scene, according to police.

Weis was transported to the hospital where she died Saturday morning.

Washick is charged with felony hit-and-run.
