BUIES CREEK, NC (WTVD) -- The Houston Astros are setting up shop at Campbell University.
The team announced Thursday that their Carolina League affiliate will call Buies Creek home for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
For the past eight years, the Astros High A team played in Lancaster, California.
That franchise is moving to Fayetteville as part of the Carolina League -- just as soon as the city builds a brand new $33 million ballpark in downtown Fayetteville.
City officials hope to have the downtown stadium completed in time for the 2019 season's first pitch.
In the meantime, the Astros will call the field at Campbell University home.
