RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Researchers at North Carolina State University are sharing their predictions for this year's Atlantic hurricane season.

They say it will be a "relatively quiet" season with eight to 11 named storms.

Of those storms, scientists believe four to six may become strong enough to reach hurricane status. One to three storms could reach category three or higher.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30.
