I-40 and Lake Wheeler Road reopen after police activity

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Traffic in both directions on I-40 near Lake Wheeler Road has reopened Thursday evening after being closed for hours because of police activity.

Raleigh Police said the closure was caused by a situation with a man who was on the Lake Wheeler Bridge over the interstate.

About 9:15 p.m., police were able to resolve the matter without injury to anyone involved.

The man was taken for medical evaluation.

By 10 p.m., traffic resumed flowing in a normal pattern.
