DUNN, N.C. (WTVD) -- The three people found dead at a Harnett County motel on Tuesday are believed to have died from an overdose.

Dunn Police Department confirmed the bodies of the three adults, have been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsies.

Jessica Howard, 30, was one of the people who died.

Her infant was in the room when police arrived at the Seven Day Motor Inn in Dunn on East Cumberland Street for a well-being check.

Marquette Towns drove down Interstate 95 from Connecticut late Tuesday after receiving the call.

He's the father of the 1-year-old who was found in the room unharmed.

"She's a good woman," he said of Howard. "She's a real good mother. She took good care of our daughter. She's a good woman."

Neighbor Randy Perkins lives down the street.

"I knew the girl. She was real good. She was a real good girl," he said. "She was not coming in and out of her apartment like she usually does. And we knew exactly right then. Because her best friend came over knocked on her door. Mom came over. And she wasn't answering the door."

Kenia Cameron, 27, and Dalonte Wilson, 34, were the others who were found dead.

Dunn interim police chief Clark White said it takes the community working together to tackle the drug problem.

"If you hear something, see something, let us know," he said. "We are constantly on high alert of any of this activity going on. We do everything that we can possibly do to mitigate it. But if I could give you the solution to this problem, I wouldn't be standing here right now."

Without a toxicology report, it's too early to say exactly what type of drug was used. However, police said early signs point to fentanyl.

Towns says he will take his daughter back to Connecticut and share wonderful and positive stories about her mom with her.
