SANFORD, North Carolina (WTVD) -- A Sanford Correctional Center inmate who escaped September 14 was captured Tuesday.

Micahel D. Clark was captured in the western North Carolina town of Marion at 2:34 p.m. by the McDowell County Sheriff's Department.
Clark, 51, was on a work assignment as part of the inmate construction crew at Harnett Correctional Institution in Lillington when he slipped away.
Clark, a minimum custody inmate serving a sentence at Sanford Correctional Center for felony breaking and entering, will face additional charges.
His projected release date was February 2020.
