KENLY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A serious crash near Kenly knocked out power to hundreds on Saturday night.
According to authorities, an SUV flipped over and crashed into a power pole on Princeton Kenly Road, bringing the pole down on top of the vehicle.
EMS and firefighters worked to free the driver, who was pinned inside the SUV. Our crew on the scene said the driver was the only person in the vehicle and was taken to the hospital by helicopter.
There's been no word on the driver's condition or what caused the accident.
Duke Energy reported close to 2,000 customers were without power after the crash. Power is supposed to be restored by 9:30 p.m.
