1 dead in Johnston County car crash

JOHNSTON COUNTY (WTVD) -- A crash in Johnston County left one man dead and two injured at around 8 p.m. Friday night.

The accident happened in the 64 hundred block of Devils Racetrack Road near Strickland's Crossroads.

Troopers said that a man driving a white car failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by a gold GMC pickup. Both of the vehicles ended up in the front yard of a home.

The man driving the car was seriously injured and the passenger died at the scene. The person driving the truck only had minor injuries.

Troopers are still investigating and they suspect that alcohol may have been a factor.

The names of the people involved have not been released.
