Fans gear up as Canes prepare for long-awaited Stanley Cup Final: 'Feel the energy'
With one day left until Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, excitement surged across Raleigh on Monday as Carolina Hurricanes fans packed the Lenovo Center and its pro shop ahead of the team's first Stanley Cup Final appearance in 20 years.
"We love our team. Their city is 100% behind them," fan Jennifer Behr said.
"I just love them. And of course, I'm a sportsaholic anyway," fan Betsy Dupree added. "Just crazy."
The Hurricanes last reached and won the Stanley Cup Final in 2006 against the Edmonton Oilers. For some fans, the memories are vivid.

"I remember 20 years ago when they brought the Stanley Cup (to Raleigh). I got to see it. And you know, it's really excited to be back here," said fan Matt Cohen.
Inside the team store, fans browsed shirts, hats, and jerseys as they prepared for Tuesday's opener. "We're going to get a sparkly Hurricanes jersey," Behr said.
