RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Several weather alerts, including a Winter Storm Warning, remain in effect until Monday afternoon.

Saturday night, in Central NC, moderate to heavy mixed precipitation, mainly sleet and freezing rain started falling.

Most people awoke Sunday to the roads covered with the wintry mix.

Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, remain slick and hazardous.

Duke Energy had 18,000 workers staged across the Carolinas to respond to power outages.

Most school districts across central NC have already made decisions about how to handle Monday's snow day.

Wake County adjusts operating hours Tuesday

Wake County will shorten operating hours for non-essential services tomorrow. Operating hours will be from noon until 5 p.m.

That includes solid-waste services.

The county's state of emergency will also be terminated tomorrow at 7 a.m. as winter weather impacts go away.

Durham Public Schools joins other districts going remote learning

Durham Public Schools has joined numerous other schools districts that will be remote learning on Tuesday.

The district made the decision due to refreezing this evening and travel concerns for tomorrow.

Students should use the learning packets and Canvas assignments shared last week.

Families with questions should contact their child's teacher.

Essential employees are to report to work as directed by their supervisor.

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools announce remote learning

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools have announced they will move to remote instruction on Tuesday.

This due to the icy conditions and freezing temperatures.

Schools and offices remain closed to staff and students for safety reasons.

Wake County schools remote-learning on Tuesday

Due to the threat of black ice on Tuesday, Wake County Public School System will be a remote instruction day for all schools.

Athletic and extracurricular events scheduled for Tuesday are also canceled.

On Monday, WCPSS held remote learning for year-round and modified calendar students. Traditional calendar students already had the day off scheduled for Monday.
