RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Stanley Cup Final between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Vegas Golden Knights looks even in a lot of ways, with very little margin for error.

Vegas has won 12 of 16 games in the playoffs, including a sweep of Colorado in the West final, while Carolina has taken 12 of 13. They've allowed the third-fewest and fewest goals against, respectively, while each scoring more than three goals a game.

The action gets underway Tuesday night in the Lenovo Center.

Fans gear up as Canes prepare for long-awaited Stanley Cup Final: 'Feel the energy'

With one day left until Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, excitement surged across Raleigh on Monday as Carolina Hurricanes fans packed the Lenovo Center and its pro shop ahead of the team's first Stanley Cup Final appearance in 20 years.

"We love our team. Their city is 100% behind them," fan Jennifer Behr said.

"I just love them. And of course, I'm a sportsaholic anyway," fan Betsy Dupree added. "Just crazy."

The Hurricanes last reached and won the Stanley Cup Final in 2006 against the Edmonton Oilers. For some fans, the memories are vivid.

Caniacs packed the Lenovo Center and its pro shop ahead of the team's first Stanley Cup Final appearance in 20 years.

"I remember 20 years ago when they brought the Stanley Cup (to Raleigh). I got to see it. And you know, it's really excited to be back here," said fan Matt Cohen.

Inside the team store, fans browsed shirts, hats, and jerseys as they prepared for Tuesday's opener. "We're going to get a sparkly Hurricanes jersey," Behr said.

Canes Stanley Cup Final run brings buzz, big crowds to Raleigh ahead of Game 1

The Carolina Hurricanes are just four wins away from their first Stanley Cup in two decades, and anticipation is building across the Triangle as the team prepares to open the finals at Lenovo Center.

Game 1 is already sold out, with some resale tickets reaching more than $1,000. Even for fans without tickets, watch parties and local businesses are preparing for increased crowds.

At Tap Yard in East Raleigh, fans have filled the venue throughout the Hurricanes' playoff run.

"Super excited. Everyone's wearing their jerseys. Everyone has our towels. We give them all bar towels, you know, because they score. They ring the bell. It's been really awesome," one patron said.

The bar has seen steady business as the team advanced, with expectations for even larger crowds during the finals.
