15-year-old bitten by shark near Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WTVD) -- A 15-year-old boy was bitten by a shark in Garden City, just south of Myrtle Beach, around 12:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, according to Capt. Jerry Howerton, with Murrells Inlet Garden City fire.

WPDE reports the teen was in chest deep water around the 1600 block on Waccamaw Drive when the small shark bit him on the leg.

When the teen tried to push the shark away, it bit him on the hand.

The teen was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
