Louisburg man charged with assault, rape of woman

LOUISBURG, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man from Louisburg is accused of assaulting and raping a woman.

Paul Nathaniel Wiggins, 31, was arrested on Saturday and charged with misdemeanor assault on a female. After further investigation, he was charged with first degree forcible rape and felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury on Monday.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said the woman was known to Wiggins.

Wiggins was taken to the Franklin County Detention Center under a $365,000 bond.
