RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Target said Thursday it will open a new store not far from NC State.

The project at 2512 Hillsborough Street is expected to open in about a year.

Target calls it a "flexible format store" similar to one planned for close to UNC. It will feature "grab-and-go items for students on a budget" including groceries, dorm items, clothing, and toiletries. A CVS pharmacy will be built in.

"Growth on college campuses and in urban markets is a priority for Target. We're able to serve more guests by adding flexible-format stores near top universities across the country," said Mark Schindele, senior vice president, Properties, Target. "We're thrilled to open our first flexible-format store in Raleigh and to join the Wolfpack community."
