Fayetteville driver critical after two-car crash on Ashton Rd

A driver is in critical condition after a serious two-car accident in Fayetteville on Wednesday night.

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A two-car wreck Wednesday in Fayetteville has left one person in critical condition.



Shortly before 7 p.m., officers responded to a crash involving an overturned vehicle in the 1800 block of Ashton Road.



Police said a black Acura traveling south on Ashton Road and a black Chrysler traveling north collided.



The driver of the Chrysler was rushed to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in critical condition. Police identified the driver as Bobby Ford, 59, of Fayetteville. He remains in critical but stable condition.



The driver of the Acura was identified as Tammy Gordon, 36, of Fayetteville.



Ashton Road between Strathmore Avenue and Friar Avenue was closed as police cleared the scene.



The FPD's Traffic Unit is conducting the investigation.
