RALEIGH (WTVD) -- As the Raleigh Police Department continues to investigate the chaos that erupted Saturday at Crabtree Valley Mall, an audio expert is providing his opinion over eyewitness cell phone video where one can hear a "bang" in the background.

Giovanni Masucci is a digital forensic examiner. He has been deemed an expert in federal, state, and local courts.

He took the cell phone video, where you hear a bang as two guys are dancing, and uploaded the file in a spectrum analyzer. He did this to read decibel levels.

"To me, it sounds like a gunshot, but again, it is my opinion that it potentially was a gunshot," he said. "We can really never say it's definitive until we've looked at all the facts and looked at all the evidence in the case and then we make a determination."

Multiple eyewitnesses reported hearing gunfire.

Masucci also says people might think they hear gunfire, but it could be something else.

"If someone hears one potential gunfire, now you have chaos. Now you have chairs falling and tables flipping which could be conceived or perceived as another gunshot or multiple gunshots," he said. "If you've been in Crabtree Mall, the acoustics are lousy, it just echoes."
