NASH COUNTY (WTVD) -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol is piecing together what set off a fiery car crash that left a Wilson man dead.
It happened early Sunday morning in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 264 near Bailey, in Nash County.
The Highway Patrol says 27-year-old Edgar Sanchez was traveling from Raleigh to Wilson when he hit a truck in front of him.
The truck kept going but Sanchez lost control and flipped over into the eastbound lanes.
Investigators say Sanchez was in the overturned car when, just a short time later, a driver in a semi-tractor did not see him and hit him, pushing the car off the road.
Sanchez's car caught fire.
Highway Patrol is investigating and looking for the truck that left the scene.
