Man drives off bridge in the Netherlands

BRUINISSE, Netherlands (WTVD) -- Dramatic surveillance video from the Netherlands shows a man drive right off a retractable bridge.

His car slammed into the other side of the bridge before falling into the water below on Tuesday.

Amazingly, the 56-year-old man wasn't hurt in the initial crash and was able to climb out of the vehicle. But, he broke several ribs and punctured a lung while attempting to escape the water to make it onto a concrete ledge.

He was later rescued and taken to a hospital.
