ZEBULON, NC (WTVD) -- The Wake County Sheriff's Office has a suspect in custody after a man with a gunshot wound collapsed at a Zebulon convenience store while asking for help Wednesday morning.
Deputies told ABC11 the suspect, 31-year-old Michael Jermaine Jackson, is in custody, but they did not release any additional details.
The incident started shortly after 8 a.m. when a woman at a home on Debnam Road told deputies that three people showed up at her door.
"Three people had come to her house, two males and one female, asking for her son," Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said. "She got her son on the phone, he later arrived. When he arrived, a disturbance broke out. "
He says that's when the shooting started, then the woman told deputies that everyone involved left the scene.
Minutes later an injured, bleeding man entered the convenience store in the 1300 block of North Arendell Avenue and asked for help.
The store's owner told ABC11 that the man, who appeared to have a gunshot wound to the head, asked to use a phone to call 911 before falling to the floor.
A dark older-model Honda Civic in front of the convenience store was also apparently part of the investigation as well.
"The three people who left the scene were in a black car, and I don't have what kind it was," Sheriff Harrison said.
He said it appears that everyone involved knew each other.
