Woman dies after being shot multiple times in Durham

It happened near the intersection of East Main Street and Elm Street

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham police are investigating after a woman was shot near the intersection of East Main Street and Elm Street.



Police said they responded around 1:10 p.m. and found 37-year-old Latonya Denise Morris shot several times. She was taken to the hospital and died shortly after, according to police.





Investigators said the shots came from a blue Lincoln Navigator, and the attack did not appear to be random.

It was the second reported murder in Durham of the New Year. On Sunday a man was found dead in the backyard of a home on 2800 block of Ashe Street.
