Governor McCrory officially announces reelection bid

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Governor Pat McCrory announced on Twitter Tuesday afternoon that he's officially in the race for reelection next year.

"I'm running for governor because our comeback story isn't over. There's still more to do to rebuild NC," tweeted the governor.

His campaign also released a video on YouTube.

McCrory was elected North Carolina's 74th governor in 2012.

He already faces competition from the Democrats. Attorney General Roy Cooper and Ken Spaulding of Durham have also thrown their hats into the ring.
