Pedestrian killed outside Roxboro

ROXBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- A car hit and killed a pedestrian early Friday morning just outside of Roxboro.

Highway Patrol said it happened around 4:30 a.m. on Mountain Road, just a half mile outside of Roxboro.

Troopers said the pedestrian, Eric James Rice, died on the scene.

Authorities also said alcohol was involved in the accident, but it has not yet been released whether the pedestrian or the driver was drinking.

There has not been any information released about the possible charges to the driver.

Troopers are still investigating the scene and will release more details as the story develops.
