AUSTIN, Texas (WTVD) -- Folks enjoying the holiday weekend at a lake in Austin, Texas got a surprise when a biplane landed in the water nearby and flipped over.
Witnesses said they heard the plane's engine spluttering before the pilot tried to bring it in for a water landing.
The plane had just taken off from a nearby airport with three people on board.
The plane sank within seconds of hitting the water, but all three were able to get out. One suffered minor injuries.
Officials said the FAA will look into the crash once the plane can be lifted from the water.
