Wake County adds early voting sites
Early voting sites have been determined in Wake County

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Wake County elections officials have secured additional early voting locations one week after the State Board of Elections decided to add more spots.

"It's been a busy year, but we're ready. That's what our job is," said Wake County Board of Elections Director Gary Sims.

Early voting begins Oct. 20 and ends Nov. 5, and registered voters can cast their ballots at any of the early voting locations.

"Early voting is very helpful for people who are busy," Sims explained. "It's not like Election Day, where you go your home polling place in your precinct. Say you live in Garner and you work in Cary. The great thing about early voting is you don't have to go to Garner for early voting."

Thousands of Wake County voters participate in early voting. In 2012, more than 53 percent cast their ballot ahead of time.

County officials will be mailing out information to effected voters at the beginning of next week.
