
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- A community is in mourning after the father of a Rocky Mount Police officer was shot and killed Thursday.
Police said officers responded shortly after 5:30 p.m. to Sunset Park for a shooting call. When officers arrived, they found 58-year-old Jaime De La Fuente inside a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.
He later died of his injuries at UNC Nash Hospital.
Authorities said the suspect, 47-year-old Calvin Conyers, ran away on foot to Chico's Mexican Restaurant on Sunset Avenue. He then pulled out a gun and attempted to take a vehicle that was in the parking lot with a woman and child inside, before injuring himself with a self-inflicted gunshot.
Police said Conyers is listed in critical condition at a hospital.
Investigators said a fourth victim was also found with a non-life-threatening injury.
Conyers is facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and two counts of second-degree kidnapping.
Rocky Mount Police said the shooting is being investigated as a homicide, but that it appeared to be an isolated incident and there was no immediate public threat.

Also in Rocky Mount on Thursday night, police announced that a fifth person had been arrested in a double homicide case that left a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old dead on July 13.
That shooting happened in the 800 block of Virginia Street,
Isaiah Spragley, 18, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder. He is being held with no bond at the Edgecombe County Detention Center.
