"Our motto is 'eat, laugh, drink'"

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Flavor Hills, a North Carolina Black-owned franchise, is closing its Downtown Raleigh and Durham locations effective immediately.

Flavor Hills announced the closure in a statement posted on Facebook.

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the official closure of all Flavor Hills operations. Thank you for all of the love and support we have received over the years," the statement said.

The restaurant said it served as a space to showcase Black excellence and became more than a place to eat.

"Flavor Hills represented more than a restaurant. Flavor Hills represented hope," the statement said.

The owners said the restaurant employed hundreds of Black and Brown men and women over the years and served thousands of guests while creating a community where people could gather, celebrate and feel at home.

They also reflected on mentoring employees and supporting them during difficult times.

"Flavor Hills became more than a business to us because the people inside of it became family," the statement said.

The restaurant thanked former employees, customers and supporters for helping build the business and its community.

Downtown Raleigh also acknowledged the closure in a statement shared on Instagram.

"It is with sadness that our friends at Flavor Hills Restaurant have closed operations, effective immediately at both downtown Raleigh and downtown Durham," the organization wrote.

The post praised Flavor Hills' food, culture and community impact while highlighting its support of local artists, including Chris Evans of Goodtrip Gallery.

Downtown Raleigh said it plans to continue supporting the owners as they focus on the Flavor Hills Experience, a venture centered on catering and private events.

The veteran-owned restaurant opened its Raleigh location on Jan. 4, 2024, after seeing many customers travel from Raleigh to its original Jacksonville restaurant.

Flavor Hills was known for serving modern Southern comfort food and soul food.
