
CLINTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- Four people, including two children, were hospitalized after a single-car crash on I-40 in Sampson County.
It happened just after 5 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said. A 2007 Toyota Yaris was going eastbound on i_40 when the back right tire blew, causing the driver to lose control.
The Toyota veered off the road to the left and struck the cable guardrail, then rolled into the westbound lanes, before coming to a stop
The driver, Brian Hugo Arana, 19, of Angier, was taken to Vidant Hospital in Greenville. The front-seat passenger, Alex Francisco Cueller Castro, 20, was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh.
Both adults were wearing seat belts, state troopers said.
Two children in the back seat were ejected from the car. One was taken to WakeMed, the other to Novant Health Hospital in Wilmington.
The conditions of the four occupants were not immediately known.
All lanes of I-40 have reopened.
