GARNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- A party at an Airbnb rental home in southern Wake County ended in chaos Monday night after gunfire left three men and a 17-year-old shot and startled neighbors who say dozens of people fled the scene in cars.

The shooting happened at a home on Joe Leach Road near Lassiter Farm Road. The homeowner told ABC11 that the property was being rented through Airbnb at the time and that she had contacted law enforcement minutes earlier to shut the gathering down after neighbors reported multiple vehicles, possible drug use and guns on the property.

A neighbor who asked not to be identified said the gunfire erupted shortly after.

It was crazy ... 20 or 30 cars on our road coming from every which way.

"After they stopped shooting, I did take a peek out of my window just to see," the neighbor said. "But it was just a bunch of cars just leaving after another. It was just kind of sketch to just leave right after a shootout."

A heavy law enforcement presence descended on the neighborhood Monday night.

Another neighbor described hearing yelling as shots rang out.

Surveillance video shared with ABC11 shows cars speeding away from the home moments after the gunfire. Neighbors said the road was flooded with cars.

"Most of the people that were at this party fled the scene down Shannondale, and they were flying up and down the road," another resident said. "It was crazy ... 20 or 30 cars on our road coming from every which way."

The homeowner said neighbors tipped her off about a large gathering on her property.

The Wake County Sheriff's Office said no arrests have been made. No other details were released Tuesday.

Some neighbors said they feared retaliation and did not want their names shared. One of the women said she heard someone outside her window after the shooting.

"I heard a man right outside the window holler something about, no, you didn't hear," she said. "I'd love to see whoever did it is caught. So they won't be shooting up anybody else."

The homeowner said the renter had booked the property through the weekend and requested an extension through Monday. She said she canceled the reservation after learning a party was underway. She's also since deactivated her Airbnb listing for the time being.

Airbnb has not commented on the incident. The sheriff's office said the investigation is ongoing.
