Police shares funny Thanksgiving greeting with Apex residents: RAW

APEX, N.C. -- A police department in North Carolina came up with an amusing way of wishing residents a happy Thanksgiving recently, as the US prepares for its most beloved holiday.

Dashcam footage released by the Apex Police Department (APD) shows an officer running out of his vehicle and tackling to the ground an individual dressed as Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer.

Jokingly disguising the footage as an official statement, APD said that, "Since half the town already had their phones out and the other half was texting, 'Did anyone else just see that?', we felt it best to share the official version before Rudolph started trending without proper context.

"We can confirm the situation ended safely, concluding with what eyewitnesses have enthusiastically described as a holiday hug delivered with commitment.

"Regarding that enthusiastic hug, we can neither confirm nor deny that Officer Henderson was responding to Christmas content appearing before Thanksgiving even had a chance to cool. Some people defend the holiday timeline with firm conviction and apparently, some choose to express that conviction by sprinting after reindeer. We all cope differently."

The APD concluded by wishing residents a happy Thanksgiving, "whether your decorations are up, still boxed, or somewhere in limbo."
